Act on Climate Change IRL

So you agree that climate change is an important issue, but are you willing to act on it? The International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) recently outlined how we must take drastic action for the climate ASAP in their latest 2018 report. Here’s your chance to act in a way that’s both fun AND reduces greenhouse emissions.

Consider this both an invitation and an opportunity to lay it all out for the earth. It’s time to act on climate. It’s time to put on that energy savvy thinking cap. It’s time to install those lit LED lights, slay those energy vampires, and implement a reduction in your conduction. In other words, It’s time to act on climate change… IRL (in real life!)

Think you have what it takes? Sign right up for the Act On Climate Change IRL Challenge and get a chance to win a $300 or $100 Visa Gift Card.

Join the Challenge

Only live data and time will tell whether your actions speak as loud as your drive to help conserve energy and protect our planet. The goal of the Act On Climate Change IRL Challenge is to reduce your electricity usage from April 1 to May 31, 2019.

The Act on Climate IRL challenge is free to enter. All you have to do is take 2 minutes to connect your Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) account and join the challenge. Then share the challenge on your social media accounts with friends, family, and co-workers to get others to take the same actions.

Then starting on April 1st take action to save energy. Additionally, throughout the duration of the challenge we will also be sending you suggested actions you can take to help you save even more electricity.

One lucky energy saver will win a $300 Visa Gift Card. And if the collective 7,000 kilowatt-hour (kWh) energy savings goal is met, two additional winners will each receive a $100 Visa Gift Card. So invite your friends to join! Every 1% of electricity you save gives you an entry to win, so saving more electricity increases your chances of winning.

The Act on Climate Change IRL is not another wishful pledge, empty promise, or unaccountable point accumulation. It’s a demonstration of taking REAL action, because the challenge is based on your REAL-TIME electricity data.

But really, what does anyone who enters this free challenge have to lose? Nothing at all. If you give it your best shot you’ll come away with more money in your pocket, some swanky new upgrades (if you put in the effort), and feeling good about the collective energy impact that you contributed to! You even get free tips and tricks for upgrades and ways to minimize energy consumption. Sounds like a win-win situation all around. Learn more about how MeterLeader Challenges work.

Even better, share the Act On Climate Change IRL Challenge with your community. Encourage your neighbor, friend, or a family to join in and see how you rank. The top energy saver gets bragging rights! And a smaller energy bill.

Let’s Save Energy Together

Saving 1% or even 30% in electricity use in our individual home may not sound like a big deal. But what does it look like if we are saving energy together with ALL of our friends, family, co-workers, and community members?

Let’s find out! By joining in the Act On Climate Change IRL Challenge you can see what those actual kilowatt-hour (kWh) energy savings add up to be, as well as the corresponding reduction in greenhouse gases. In real-time you’ll be able to see small individual actions add up to big collective impact.

Join our movement in saving energy. Spread the word, and see the REAL reductions in greenhouse gas emissions begin to add up.
